How to use Ultrasonography?
An ultrasound machine takes pictures to examine organs inside the body. The machine sends out high-frequency sound waves, which reflect the body’s structure. A computer receives the waves and uses them to create an image. Unlike an X-ray or CT scan, this test does not use ionizing radiation.
The test is done in the ultrasound or radiology department.
You will lie down for the exam.
A clear, water-based gel is applied to the skin to be tested. The gel helps in the transmission of sound waves.
A handheld probe called a transducer is moved over the area being tested. You may need to change location to check other areas.
