Dengue NS1 Rapid Test Device
Dengue NS1 Rapid Test Device IgG/IgM Rapid Test Kit is used to qualitatively detect dengue virus IgM and IgG antibodies in human serum, plasma, and whole blood. This method can be used to differentiate between primary and secondary infections. It is used to identify samples from patients with clinical symptoms of dengue fever.
NS1 can be detected during the acute phase of dengue virus infection. NS1 tests can be as sensitive as molecular tests within the first 0-7 days of symptoms. After day 7, NS1 testing is not recommended.
A positive NS1 test result indicates dengue infection but does not provide serotype information. Knowing the serotype of the infectious virus is not essential to patient care; However, if serotype information is required for surveillance purposes, the sample should be tested by NAT.
Although studies show that NS1 can be found in whole blood or plasma, most NS1 tests have been developed and evaluated in serum samples. Although testing combined with NS1 and IgM antibody testing can usually provide a diagnostic result within the first 1–7 days of illness, a second, healthy phase specimen should be obtained and tested for IgM when both antigen and antibody tests are negative.

Interpretation of results:
A positive NS1 test result confirms dengue virus infection without providing serotype information.
A negative NS1 test result does not rule out infection. People with negative NS1 results should be tested for the presence of dengue IgM antibodies to rule out recent exposure to dengue.
Presence
Dengue NS1 tests are available as commercial diagnostic kits, with a limited number cleared by the US Food and Drug Administration. Some public health and commercial laboratories use these tests.
When to test for dengue?
Contact your healthcare provider if you have dengue symptoms and have lived in or recently traveled to a dengue-risk area.
If you have recently traveled to a dengue-risk area, tell your healthcare provider.
A blood test is the only way to confirm the diagnosis.
Your healthcare provider may order a blood test to look for dengue or other similar viruses, such as Zika or chikungunya
